The diocese offers two different age-appropriate retreats. Retreats have a common patch and use the theme developed from the Vatican's direction for World Youth Day.
The Cub Scout Faith Day is offered annually most recently at the Catholic Center. Activities include Opening Ceremony, Theme Related Activity, Craft Activity, Snack, Songs, Fun Closing Activity, and Closing Activity
The Boy Scout/Venturer Retreat is held annually each March. Activities include Presentations with Discussions, Spiritual Exercises, LIturgies, Reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, Games, and Free Time. Meals and a "Cracker Barrel" are furnished. There is a closing Mass with the Bishop followed by the Youth and Adult Recognition Ceremony.
For these diocesan activities see Future Events for the dates and specific contact information.
St. George Trek
While the St. George Trek is a NCCS activity at Philmont Scout Ranch, the DCCS does select and support financially at least one older scout or venturer to attend. The Trek is offered every two years (next Trek is July 2024). In the past Bishop Emeritus Gerald Gettelfinger of the Evansville diocese has been one of the leaders for the Trek. If interested, contact the Scout Chaplain, Deacon Tony Schapker.
